(October 28, 2014) Chairmen and councillors of local governments in Lagos State have been directed to hand over the reins of authority in their respective areas. Others affected are political appointees including supervisors and Council Secretaries. The directive by the state government is in line with the constitution as the 3-year statutory tenure of the elected council officials expires today.
(October 27, 2014) The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to come up with a manifesto streamlined to six broad areas for the 2015 general elections. A statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the APC will hold an extraordinary national convention on Wednesday in Abuja to approve amendments to the constitution of the party and also adopt its manifesto for the general elections.
(October 23, 2014) The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) was on Thursday presented to the electorate in Lagos with its founder Dr. Fredrick Fasheun saying the new party would revive the ideals of the defunt second republic UPN. The defunct UPN founded by the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo dominated the south western part of the country between 1979 and 1983.
(October 24, 2014) A cross examination of witnesses has commenced at the Coroners’ Inquest into the collapsed Synagogue Guest House in Lagos at the premises of the state High Court. The Coroner, Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe asked the counsel to the Synagogue church to advise the overseer, Prophet T.B. Joshua to be present in court on the fifth of next month for cross-examination.
